This coin features a Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) branch with two fresh green leaves and two seed packets. Sugar Maple is native to the hardwood forests of eastern Canada and eastern United States. Sugar maple is best known for being the primary source of maple syrup and for its brightly colored fall foliage. It may also be known as "rock maple", "sugar tree", "birds-eye maple", "sweet maple", "curly maple", or "hard maple", particularly when referring to the wood.

The 2002 design is highlighted with the eye-catching colours of summer, it is a perfect accompaniment to last fall's autumn-hued coin!
